**Airport Security Foils Suspected Bandit Activity in Ondo, 4 Suspects Arrested**
Recent events have highlighted the vigilance of airport security personnel in Ondo State. A coordinated operation between aviation security units and local law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of four individuals suspected to be bandits near Akure Airport in Ondo State.
According to reports, the suspects were spotted near the airport perimeter in the Eleyewo community, prompting a swift response from security personnel. A joint search operation was launched by a combined team of Aviation Security (AVSEC), the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and local security outfits, including Amotekun and community vigilantes.
As security personnel approached the suspects, some attempted to flee, but they were eventually apprehended. The suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force Area Command for further questioning.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commended the collaboration among security agencies, praising the joint efforts that led to the arrest. The authority also highlighted the need for reinforced airport perimeter security.
In recent times, the Federal Government has taken steps to improve airport security nationwide. The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, with the backing of the Presidency, has accelerated the installation of modern perimeter fencing and upgraded security infrastructure at airports across the country.
FAAN has assured both travellers and airport communities of its unwavering commitment to maintaining the safety and security of all airport facilities nationwide.
