On Friday, Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti, Ferdinand Ekeoma, revealed that political actors are allegedly sponsoring miscreants from Aba and neighboring areas to stage a protest labeled "Tinubu Dey Work, Otti Dey Chop." The state described the move as an attempt to make Abia ungovernable. Ekeoma stated that security agencies are monitoring the situation closely. He urged residents to disregard any such incitement and warned that those behind the plot would face legal consequences.
The plot's framing exposes how easily political actors weaponize public frustration for their ends. Ekeoma's warning to legal consequences rings hollow in a state where such threats rarely translate to convictions. If this attempt fails, expect even more desperate tactics ahead of 2027.
