The 38th Enugu International Trade Fair is scheduled to take place from March 12 to March 22, 2027, the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA) has announced. The date was disclosed by ECCIMA president Engr. Nnanyelugo Onyemelukwe, represented by the First Deputy President, Sir Eric Chime, during the closing of the 2026 edition. The 37th edition was extended by two days, now ending on April 1, 2026, to allow exhibitors more time to sell goods, with security and logistics adjusted accordingly. Onyemelukwe acknowledged that the national economic downturn and rising petroleum prices affected the fair but said participation and outcomes improved compared to the 36th edition.
He credited exhibitors for helping revive the event, noting that deals were made and networks strengthened. Apologies were issued for any shortcomings, with assurances that improvements are underway for 2027. A key highlight was the completion of a 3,000 SQM air-conditioned indoor pavilion, used for the first time this year. Early bird registration for the 2027 fair is open until November 30, 2026, offering a 10% discount. Feedback from exhibitors is being reviewed to enhance the next event.
Engr. Nnanyelugo Onyemelukwe is treating economic headwinds as a temporary glitch rather than a systemic failure. The fact that ECCIMA is pushing forward with upgrades and early registration despite inflation and fuel costs suggests a belief that commerce can outpace crisis. For Nigerian businesses, this signals a fragile but persistent effort to maintain trade momentum. Whether the 2027 fair delivers more than optimism depends on how many can afford to exhibit when the time comes.
