WME’s Bradley Rainey Reps 4 Nominees for Original Score, But Don’t Ask Him For Oscar Predictions
**WME's Bradley Rainey: The Man Behind Nigeria's Favorite Movie Soundtracks?**
As we count down to the 95th Academy Awards, the buzz in Hollywood is all about the nominees. Among them are four talented musicians who have made it to the Original Score category. What's interesting is that the man behind these nominees, Bradley Rainey, is a veteran agent with expertise in music for visual media at WME.
Rainey's team at WME has been a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, representing some of the biggest names in the business, including Trent Reznor, Ludwig Göransson, and Johnny Greenwood. Their department has an impressive track record, having represented six out of the last seven Oscar winners for Best Original Score.
This year, Rainey's department is repping four out of the five nominees for Original Score, including Jurskin Fendrix for "Bugonia," Göransson for "Sinners," Greenwood for "One Battle After Another," and Max Richter for "Hamnet." With WME also representing Ejae and Nick Cave in the Best Original Song category, the chances of one of Rainey's clients walking away with an Oscar seem high.
We caught up with Rainey to talk about his approach to music for visual media and what sets his clients apart. According to him, the quality that ties his clients together is their experience working across multiple disciplines. "When you have an artist or artists who work across many disciplines, whether that's touring or producing or visual art, and then you bring those talents to scoring, it sort of brings a three-dimensional component that's undeniable," he said.
Rainey's strategy of representing musicians-turned-composers has paid off, and he believes that their unique perspective brings a fresh approach to film scoring. He also thinks that filmmakers are more open to collaborating with musicians, given their diverse skillset.
While Rainey is clearly confident about his clients' chances, he's not one to make predictions. But with his team's impressive track record and the talent he represents, it's hard not to feel optimistic about the prospects of one of his clients taking home the coveted Oscar.
