Wike Orders Demolition Of Illegal Estate Built On Land Allocated For Park, Recreation In Guzape District
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has announced plans to demolish an illegal estate built on a land allocated for a park and recreation area in the Guzape District of Abuja. The FCT Administration made this decision after discovering the violation during a recent inspection tour of ongoing projects in the territory.
The minister stated that the administration will strictly enforce planning regulations to prevent any compromise of Abuja's master plan. He emphasized that the government will not tolerate deliberate violations of land-use approvals and will withdraw any approval previously granted to the developer.
Wike explained that the land was designated for a park and recreation area, not for residential development. He lamented that many developers disregard planning laws, hoping that government officials will eventually leave office, allowing them to regularize their illegal developments. However, the minister reassured that the government will not allow this to happen in Abuja.
This move is seen as a significant step in maintaining the integrity of Abuja's master plan. It is a clear message to developers who seek to flout planning laws and disregard the rights of the people. The minister's stance on this issue is a reflection of his commitment to ensuring that Abuja develops in a manner that is consistent with its master plan and meets the needs of its residents.
The demolition of this estate serves as a warning to developers who engage in such activities. It is a reminder that the government will enforce planning regulations and protect the rights of the people, regardless of who is involved. This move is expected to send a strong message to developers and landowners in Abuja, and will undoubtedly help to maintain the city's integrity and beauty.
