Wike-backed PDP faction vows to rebuild party in Ekiti
**PDP Faction Leads Charge to Reclaim Ekiti State**
In a recent move, the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by Governor Nyesom Wike has launched a mission to rebuild the party in Ekiti State. The goal is to restore the party's winning ways in the state before the 2027 general elections.
At the inauguration of the State Working Committee members in Ado Ekiti, the newly appointed State Chairman, Mr Lanre Omolase, expressed his determination to lead the party with integrity and ensure that the PDP regains its lost grounds in the state. Omolase, known for his close ties to former Governor Ayodele Fayose, emphasized that the party has the necessary resources to achieve this goal.
A key figure in the PDP, Bisi Kolawole, who is a member of the National Caretaker Working Committee, stated that plans are underway to rebuild the party's structure and reposition it for future success. Kolawole, a former PDP governorship candidate in Ekiti, acknowledged that the party has faced internal challenges in recent times but assured that the leadership at the national level is working to restore unity and strengthen internal democracy.
Kolawole urged the newly elected state executives to remain loyal, respect party elders, and work collectively to move the party forward. He stressed that discipline, unity, and commitment to party ideals are crucial for the PDP to regain its strength as a major political force in the country.
In a similar vein, the Chairman of the PDP State Congress Committee, Philip Adebiyi, praised the conduct of the congress and reiterated that leadership is working tirelessly to rebuild the party ahead of the 2027 elections. Adebiyi emphasized the need for reconciliation among party members, highlighting that efforts are ongoing in this direction.
This move by the Wike-backed PDP faction is a significant development in Ekiti State's political landscape. The state has been a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in recent years, but the PDP's determination to rebuild and regain its strength could potentially disrupt the status quo. As the 2027 general elections draw closer, it remains to be seen whether the PDP can successfully execute its plans and reclaim its former glory in Ekiti State.
