**Benue PDP Sets Sights on 2027 Comeback in Makurdi** In a bid to reclaim its former glory, the Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently converged in Makurdi for an expanded caucus meeting. The party's leaders and stakeholders were present to discuss strategies aimed at repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 elections. Ex-Governor Samuel Ortom, who leads the PDP in Benue, briefed the gathering on the current state of affairs within the party. He revealed that the internal crisis that had plagued the party and led to several court cases had been resolved following a court judgment. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant bodies have since recognized the caretaker committee led by Abduhraman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu. The party's e-registration exercise is set to kick off on March 16, 2026, and will last for two weeks. Once completed, the party's e-register will be submitted to INEC. Ex-Governor Ortom expressed optimism about the PDP's chances in the 2027 elections, saying that with the litigations now resolved, the party is well positioned to win. In his remarks, Senate Minority Leader Dr Abba Moro stated that the PDP is on course to reclaim power in Benue in 2027. He criticized the current governor, saying that he has failed to live up to his responsibility of protecting the people of the state. Dr Moro noted that the issue is not about him or the Idoma people, but about the collective interest of Benue. He also urged PDP members not to be intimidated by the "No Alia, No Benue" group, insisting that the governor is not the first or last to hold the position. The State Chairman of the PDP, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, acknowledged the support of friends from the APC who have formed a strategic partnership with the party. This partnership is aimed at rescuing Benue from what they see as poor governance under the current administration. The meeting was a significant step towards the PDP's 2027 comeback in Benue. With the party's e-registration exercise underway and the current governor facing criticism for his performance, the PDP's chances of regaining power in the state look promising.
