Vice President Kashim Shettima paid a condolence visit to Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, at his residence in Abuja on Monday. The visit was in response to the death of El-Rufai's biological mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday.

According to Mr Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice-President, Shettima described Hajiya Umma El-Rufai as a woman of great virtue and a pillar of strength for her family. During the visit, Shettima offered prayers for the repose of her soul and for the El-Rufai family to find the strength to navigate the difficult period of mourning.
