Governor Hope Uzodimma, the National Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress Renewed Hope Ambassadors, has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027, despite stiff opposition. Uzodimma made this assertion at the opening of a two-day South-South Zonal Summit of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Asaba, Delta State.
The summit, themed "One Party, One Message, One Mobilisation", aimed to bridge the gap between the elite and the grassroots. Uzodimma noted that the country had previously operated under a system of subsidy, multiple exchange rates, and a power sector that consumed revenue without delivering power. He credited President Tinubu with introducing reforms that have stabilised the economy and rebuilt its foundations.
However, Uzodimma acknowledged that many Nigerians are still feeling the pains of these adjustments. He charged the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to help Nigerians understand government policies and programmes, and to bridge the gap between government performance and citizens' awareness.
The governor explained that the summit would expose participants to a deep understanding of the president's Renewed Hope Agenda. He urged the ambassadors to be advocates of prosperity and representatives of the Federal Government, and to help Nigerians understand that the pains of reform are temporary, but the gains are permanent.
President Tinubu's re-election bid is gaining momentum, but the challenges facing everyday Nigerians remain a pressing concern. Governor Uzodimma's confidence in the president's chances may be well-founded, given the progress made in stabilising the economy and rebuilding its foundations.
