US, Israel Hit Five Oil Sites In And Near Tehran
**US and Israel Bombard Iran's Oil Facilities, Killing Four**
In the early hours of Sunday, the United States and Israel launched a surprise attack on five oil facilities, including depots and a transport centre, located in and around Tehran, the capital city of Iran. According to reports, four people lost their lives in the strike, including two oil tanker drivers.
The attack, which was confirmed by Keramat Veyskarami, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, was carried out by enemy aircraft, although the exact nature of the aircraft remains unclear. Veyskarami stated that four oil depots and a petroleum products transport centre were targeted, causing damage but fortunately, the fire was brought under control.
Eyewitnesses described a dark haze covering the city as morning broke, with smoke from the fires lingering in the air and a strong smell of burning fuel still present.
Despite the attack, Veyskarami assured that Iran's oil depots have sufficient gasoline reserves to meet the country's needs. This comes at a time when tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran have been escalating following a previous strike on February 28, which killed Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and triggered a war in the Middle East.
In response to the attack, Iran has targeted Israel and US interests across the region with drone and missile strikes. The situation remains volatile, with both sides exchanging blows in a bitter conflict that shows no signs of abating.
For Nigeria, this development serves as a stark reminder of the fragile nature of global politics and the potential for conflict to erupt at any moment. As the world's oil-producing countries engage in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, Nigerians can only watch and wait to see how the situation unfolds.
