**Troops Launch Clearing Operations in Anambra, Imo to Restore Peace and Security** As part of efforts to maintain peace and security in the South-east region, troops of Operation Eastern Sanity have embarked on clearance operations against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its Eastern Security Network (ESN) in some areas of Anambra and Imo states. According to Lt.-Col. Olabisi Ayeni, the spokesperson for the operation, these coordinated efforts are aimed at restoring lasting peace and security in the region. Ayeni explained that on March 3, 2026, troops, in collaboration with other security agencies and the Nigerian Air Force, conducted clearance operations at Camp Gbadoanya in Orsumoghu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state. During the operation, several insurgent camps were identified and destroyed, and a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered, including pump action guns, locally-made dane guns, and assorted rifle magazines. Other items seized include cutting machines, Biafran currencies, and IED making materials. In a continuation of the operations, on March 4, 2026, troops destroyed several other camps in Imo state, including an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) fabrication site. Several IED making items, including welding machines, drilling machines, and filling machines, were recovered from the sites. The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to maintain peace and security in the country, particularly in the South-east region where IPOB and ESN have been active. The Nigerian government has proscribed IPOB and ESN, designating them as terrorist groups.
