Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two suspected informants linked to terrorist groups in the Mainok area of Borno State. The arrests were made on March 18, at around 3:00 a.m. following credible intelligence on suspicious activities in the area.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert, disclosed the information on X. According to him, troops of 156 Task Force Battalion mobilised quickly to the location after receiving information from local sources about suspicious activities in the Mainok general area.
The suspects were apprehended and items believed to be linked to terrorist logistics and support activities were recovered. These items include electrical cables. The suspects and recovered items are currently in military custody and will be handed over to Sector 2 Military Intelligence Brigade for further investigation.
The recent arrests in Borno State highlight the ongoing efforts of Operation Hadin Kai to combat terrorism in the region. However, the involvement of civilian informants in terrorist activities raises serious concerns about the extent of infiltration. The fact that these suspects were able to operate undetected for so long suggests a need for more effective intelligence gathering and community engagement.
