President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of soldiers from the 29 Task Force Brigade, Operation HADIN KAI, killed in a coordinated terrorist attack on their camp in Benisheikh, Borno State. The assault occurred in the early hours of Thursday, April 9, 2026, and was confirmed by the Defence Headquarters. Tinubu described the fallen troops as "unforgettable and irreplaceable heroes" who died defending communities against Boko Haram insurgents.

The President praised the military's sustained land and air offensives, saying they have neutralised many insurgent fighters and commanders. He attributed the attack to the insurgents' desperation amid ongoing military pressure. Tinubu specifically acknowledged Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who died in the attack, and extended condolences to his family and the families of all the deceased soldiers.

Tinubu urged the Armed Forces not to be discouraged, reaffirming the government's commitment to improving military equipment and welfare. He called on Nigerians and the media to support the military and refrain from glorifying attacks on troops. The Federal Government, he said, will continue collaborating with the Borno State government to achieve lasting peace.
