In a shocking incident that has sent waves of panic through the community, a 16-year-old girl has been arraigned in a Lagos court over allegations of threatening to kill a 15-year-old girl she accused of "snatching" her boyfriend. The drama unfolded in Khalakuta Jegba Quarters, Badagry, where the two girls allegedly clashed over a romantic relationship gone sour.
According to eyewitnesses, the accused teenager, whose identity has been withheld due to her age, allegedly used a razor blade to cut the face of the younger girl, causing her to sustain serious injuries. The prosecutor, Friday Mameh, stated that the accused's actions were not only a threat to the younger girl's life but also a breach of public peace. He cited Sections 230 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, as the basis for the charges against the accused.
In a dramatic turn of events, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges, prompting the Chief Magistrate, A. J. Aina, to grant her bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 12. The case has been adjourned until 30th March for mention.
