**Troops Rescue 19 Kidnapped Victims in Abuja, Kill Suspected Terrorist**
In a major operation, troops of the 7 Guards Battalion, Nigerian Army, have successfully rescued 19 kidnapped victims and neutralized a suspected terrorist in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The operation, which took place in the Bwari Area Council, was conducted in collaboration with operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes.
According to the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Olawuyi Itunuoluwa, the operation was carried out based on credible intelligence that linked the suspected terrorists to recent kidnappings in the Byazhin area of Bwari. The troops made contact with the bandits, leading to a shootout in which one of the suspects was killed and others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.
During the operation, security operatives recovered one AK-47 and a locally fabricated firearm. The 19 kidnapped victims, who were rescued and evacuated to safety, are currently receiving medical attention.
The Commander of the Guards Brigade, Brigadier General Adebisi Onasanya, commended the troops and other security agencies for their bravery and professionalism. He reiterated the Brigade's commitment to protecting residents of the FCT and safeguarding Abuja as the nation's seat of power.
