Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to welcome Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State into the All Progressives Congress.

The event is scheduled to take place in Gusau, the state capital, on Tuesday.

According to Tukur Maikatako, the state APC Chairman, Shettima will lead the national leadership of the party for the occasion.

Maikatako said the visit underscores the APC's commitment to unity and political inclusiveness in Zamfara.

He described Governor Lawal's return to the party as an opportunity to consolidate the party's strength in Zamfara and ensure that all members work together for the progress of the state and the country.

Maikatako has urged party members to set aside factional differences and work towards collective goals, noting that a united APC will enhance its performance in the 2027 polls.

💡 NaijaBuzz Take

The APC's efforts to woo Governor Dauda Lawal into the party are a clear indication of the party's desperation to strengthen its presence in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 polls. By welcoming the governor, Vice President Shettima is essentially acknowledging the APC's weaknesses in the state. The real question is whether this move will translate into tangible benefits for the people of Zamfara, who have been plagued by poverty and underdevelopment. The APC's focus on unity and inclusiveness sounds good on paper, but it remains to be seen whether the party will follow through on its promises. As the 2027 elections approach, Nigerians will be watching closely to see if the APC's efforts will pay off.
