Rotary to build N.72b wellness centre, others
**Rotary Nigeria to Transform Lives with N72 Billion Wellness Centre and More** The Rotary District 9111 in Nigeria has unveiled a massive plan to build and equip a N722 million wellness centre, among other projects, to transform the lives of Nigerians. This was announced by Governor-Elect, Mrs Bukola Bakare, at a District Team Learning Seminar for incoming leaders in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos. As part of the ambitious plan, Mrs Bakare aims to conduct over 100 cataract surgeries and distribute 5,000 eye glasses worth over N100 million. The district will also train teachers and headteachers, empower women and youths with N100 million, and support a N50 million Peace project to benefit non-Rotarians. Additionally, a N30 million grant will be provided for public image and N50 million for scholarships under the District Educational and Welfare Endowment Fund programme. To achieve these goals, Mrs Bakare has pledged to embark on a fund raiser and attract funds from the global Rotary body. She urged members to cooperate and work together to execute impact-driven ideas, emphasizing the Rotary motto: "Create lasting impact." She also unveiled a new vision for the district: "Value, impact, and legacy," which aims to drive accelerated growth, visibility, and leadership in the Rotary movement. Under her leadership, Mrs Bakare aims to boost the membership of the district by 25 per cent, a goal she believes is achievable with the commitment of members and their leaders. She emphasized the importance of collaboration, proactivity, and support in achieving the district's objectives. District Governor, Prince Henry Akinyele, highlighted the significance of leadership in Rotary, likening it to a relay where each participant takes over from the previous one, rather than a competition. He urged the incoming leaders to be prepared, proactive, and supportive, as their success will depend on their collaboration.
