Robbery Attack Rocks Ondo Health Facility

A robbery attack occurred at the Basic Health Centre in Oke-Ijebu, Akure, the capital of Ondo State, on Saturday morning. Three suspects, armed with pump-action rifles and cutlasses, invaded the facility in a black Toyota Venza car. They scaled the perimeter fence to gain access to the premises.

The suspects forcefully dispossessed three health workers of their personal belongings, including mobile phones and a POS terminal. The victims were subsequently whisked away towards the Olokuta Correctional Centre axis, along Ondo Road.

The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident in a statement. According to him, preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects ordered the health workers to remove their clothing before abandoning them in the bush.

The victims were later found by staff of the Correctional Service. In response to the incident, patrols have been intensified, and collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups has been strengthened to enhance safety across the state.
