Pakistan has offered to host talks between the United States and Iran, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
According to Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Pakistan is willing to facilitate direct or indirect talks between the two nations in the coming days. The announcement comes as Iran's parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, warned that Iranian forces are "waiting for the arrival of American troops on the ground to set them on fire and punish their regional partners forever." The war has already claimed over 3,000 lives and disrupted global supplies of oil, natural gas, and fertiliser.
Pakistan's role as a mediator is significant, given its relatively good ties with both Washington and Tehran.
