He used the example of the Labour Party, which, despite having millions of votes in the past, is now struggling to attract a mere fraction of that number. According to Akpabio, this is due to the party's fractured leadership, with different factions operating in different parts of the country. Similarly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a former ruling party, is also facing challenges, with multiple leadership offices and secretaries vying for power in Abuja. This, Akpabio argues, is a clear indication of a party in disarray. It remains to be seen how these internal conflicts will play out in the run-up to the 2027 elections.
