The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, has arrested 46 individuals across the state's 18 local government areas. Among those detained are two siblings, 11 suspected kidnappers, and 33 others accused of various crimes. The suspects were paraded by the state's Amotekun Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, on Wednesday in Akure.

The 11 suspected kidnappers were apprehended in the government reserve area of Owo Local Government Area. According to Mr Adeleye, the arrests followed a kidnapping incident at a railroad access point. Those linked to the abduction include two brothers named Usman and Usman, a suspect identified as Zakaria, and an alleged informant, Seidu, who was arrested while preparing to buy food and supplies for the kidnappers. The suspects' ages range between 20 and 35 years.

Two other suspects, Ayuba, 20, and Umaru, were arrested under the anti-open-grazing law in Owo. A total of 31 of the 46 were detained for offences including cultism, illegal possession of firearms, breach of peace, and other domestic criminal activities. Mr Adeleye attributed the success to Sallah patrol operations, which involved border control, Amotekun rangers, the operational department, commander squads, and other units of the corps.

He stated that security collaboration among state agencies has strengthened forest combing, clearance operations, and joint patrols. Mr Adeleye warned that criminals have no hiding place in Ondo State and urged anyone considering illegal acts to reconsider or face consequences.

The commander names two brothers as Usman and Usman, raising questions about whether both share the same name or if an error was made in official reporting. One of the suspects arrested for aiding kidnappers was caught buying food, a detail that suggests operational vulnerability in their plan. The anti-open-grazing law led to two arrests, showing its enforcement remains active alongside responses to violent crime. This mix of charges reveals the broad scope of Amotekun's current law enforcement priorities.
