Oando Wins Equality, Diversity, Inclusion Award at IMT Summit
**Oando Shines at IMT Summit, Wins Top Honour for Promoting Equality and Inclusion**
In a significant achievement, Oando Plc, one of Nigeria's leading energy companies, has been crowned the champion of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) at the recent West Africa Industrialisation, Manufacturing, and Trade Summit (IMT) 2026. The prestigious award is a testament to Oando's commitment to creating a more inclusive workplace and fostering representation across various sectors in Nigeria and beyond.
The recognition came at the summit's grand gala dinner and awards ceremony, where industry leaders and organisations were celebrated for driving growth and transformation in the region. Oando edged out other notable contenders, including Coleman Wires and Cables, Nigeria Machine Tools Limited, Ecobank Togo, and Unilever Côte d'Ivoire, to take home the coveted award.
This achievement highlights Oando's efforts to build a more diverse workforce, with women now making up 43 per cent of its employees - a remarkable milestone in traditionally male-dominated industries like energy and manufacturing. According to a report by Veriv Africa, women constitute only 18.6 per cent of the workforce in Nigeria's energy sector, with even fewer in leadership positions.
However, Oando is bucking this trend, with a higher representation of women in its workforce. This is particularly noteworthy in the renewable energy sector, where females make up between 22 per cent and 37 per cent of the workforce.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Kanyinsola Mba, General Manager of Human Capital Management & Services, expressed gratitude to the organisers and dedicated the recognition to Oando's employees. Ayodele Peregrino, Employee Relations Manager, was also present to receive the award.
Oando's commitment to EDI is a step in the right direction, not just for the company but also for Nigeria's industrial and energy sectors.
