The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) did not submit a formal request to use Eagle Square for its national convention. Speaking on Monday after inspecting ongoing projects in Abuja, Mr Wike dismissed reports that the federal government denied the party access to the venue. He called the claims "baseless" and emphasized that no official application was ever received. The minister reiterated that all organizations are free to use public facilities provided they follow due process. Eagle Square, a major event ground in the FCT, is often used for political gatherings, religious events, and national celebrations. The ADC had reportedly planned a national convention, but no date or specific details of the intended event were disclosed. Mr Wike's office has not released a list of recent approvals or denials for the use of the square. The ADC has not issued an official response to the minister's statement.
