Nigeria Customs Service Honours Female Personnel for Outstanding Contributions

According to the Comptroller-General, the female personnel play a central role in the service's operations, serving at the frontline in ports and border stations, handling documentation for trade facilitation, and contributing to policy-making. He noted that the global customs community has recognised the importance of gender inclusivity in institutional structures, and that organisations that genuinely include and empower women tend to perform better and serve their communities more effectively.
The Comptroller-General acknowledged that the Nigeria Customs Service still has a way to go in achieving full gender parity, but he expressed commitment to creating an environment where women's talent, dedication, and ambition determine their progress. Responding on behalf of the female personnel, Caroline Niagwan, the Deputy Comptroller of Customs in charge of Tariff and Trade, thanked the Comptroller-General for the recognition and acknowledged his visionary leadership and consistent championing of gender inclusion within the service.
