**NEMA Brings Relief to Maiduguri Explosions Victims**
Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has stepped in to provide vital medical supplies and relief materials to those affected by the recent explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State. The Agency, under the leadership of Director-General Mrs. Zubaida Umar, has delivered medical consumables, medicaments, food, and non-food items to support the treatment of injured victims and their families.
As part of this effort, Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside NEMA's Director-General, visited Maiduguri on Wednesday, 18th March 2026. The Vice President expressed sympathy to the victims and reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to ensuring their full recovery. This commitment is a testament to the government's dedication to providing timely humanitarian assistance and medical support to those affected by emergencies across the country.
The Vice President, accompanied by dignitaries including the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Hon Umar Usman Kadafur, and the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Special Duties, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, visited the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where some of the injured victims are receiving treatment. He informed the hospital's Chief Medical Director that the medical supplies were provided by the Federal Government through NEMA to support ongoing treatment efforts.
This intervention is a welcome relief to the people of Maiduguri and underscores the importance of collaboration between government agencies, healthcare providers, and emergency responders in times of crisis. As Nigeria continues to face security challenges in some parts of the country, initiatives like this demonstrate the government's commitment to providing support to affected communities and promoting the well-being of all Nigerians.
