Jibril Sabo Keana, also known as JSK, a former National Publicity Secretary of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), has announced his candidacy for Nasarawa state governor in the 2027 elections under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). At a pre-declaration event at the ADC Secretariat in Keana on Monday, Keana submitted his letter of intent, framing his bid as a mission to restore public trust in leadership and accelerate inclusive development. Speaking to supporters, he emphasized his focus on grassroots needs, promising to address security, education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and ethnic unity.
Keana dismissed personal ambition as his motivation, stating his vision centers on ordinary citizens. He highlighted Nasarawa's unfulfilled potential since its 1996 creation, where many still lack basic governance dividends. His eight-point agenda, unveiled in his hometown, prioritizes Development, Security, and Progress (DSP). Key proposals include intelligence-led community security, transparent digital governance, completion of the Farin Ruwa Electricity Project, a statewide Ring Road, school infrastructure upgrades, a farmers' Produce Marketing Board, primary healthcare revitalization, women's economic empowerment, and stronger ties between state, local, and traditional institutions to foster peace.
JSK's eight-point plan reads like a checklist of long-delayed state needs, but his emphasis on "restoring confidence" suggests he knows how badly it's been lost. His call for unity beyond political divides is sharp, especially in a state where ethnic tensions often flare. If implemented, his Produce Marketing Board could finally give farmers a fair deal after years of neglect. The real test will be whether his ADC platform can deliver beyond promises.
