Messi scores 900th career goal, joins Ronaldo in exclusive club
Lionel Messi reached another historic milestone on Thursday, scoring his 900th career goal as Inter Miami played out a 1-1 draw with Nashville SC in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
The 38-year-old forward becomes only the second player to achieve the feat, joining long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo in the exclusive 900-goal club.
Messi’s landmark strike comes 21 years after his first senior goal for Barcelona in 2005, underlining a remarkable career defined by consistency and excellence at the highest level.

Since joining Inter Miami in 2023, the Argentine has scored 81 goals for the club. His career tally also includes 672 goals for Barcelona, 32 for Paris Saint-Germain, and 115 for Argentina.
Despite the historic moment, the goal was not enough to secure progress in the competition. Inter Miami were eliminated on away goals after a 1-1 aggregate draw, having played out a goalless first leg in Nashville.
Messi opened the scoring early, finding the net in the seventh minute with a low, powerful strike that sparked celebrations among the home fans. However, Nashville SC equalised in the 74th minute, and Inter Miami were unable to find a decisive winner.
The result brought a bittersweet end to the night, as Messi’s personal milestone was overshadowed by the team’s exit from the tournament.
