Ekiti Police Command Arraigns Man Over Alleged Petrol Theft

A 49-year-old man, Saheed Rasaki, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate's Court over alleged theft of 1,000 litres of petrol valued at N1,300,000. The incident allegedly occurred in Ado-Ekiti on March 23, 2026.

Prosecutor ASP Akinwale Oriyomi told the court that the defendant and others, who remain at large, conspired to steal the petrol belonging to one Oso Babatunde. The court was informed that the defendant and his accomplices conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by converting the fuel to their own use.

The offences are punishable under Sections 421, 301, and 181(d) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021. Counsel to the defendant, Barrister O.G. Abiola, requested bail for his client, assuring the court that the defendant would not jump bail.

The court granted bail in the sum of ₦150,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned until April 23, for hearing.
