A Kano woman, Hafsatu Yusuf, who recently gave birth to quintuplets at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, has lost her life. The tragic incident occurred around 2am at the hospital, where the woman had been receiving medical attention after delivering the five babies - three boys and two girls. The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na'isa, confirmed the development in a telephone interview, revealing that the woman had been experiencing persistent bleeding after delivery. Despite the efforts of medical personnel to stabilise her condition, the woman's health deteriorated, and she eventually succumbed to her injuries. The newborns, on the other hand, are in stable condition and are receiving medical attention at the hospital.
The Kano State Government had taken responsibility for the medical care of the mother and her babies following the delivery, and the ministry had earlier disclosed that the quintuplets were delivered successfully. The government's intervention was welcomed by the husband of the deceased, Malam Salisu Nufi'u, who described it as timely support.
