Abuja Hosts 2026 'Hansik' Contest, Influencer Emerges Winner

A Nigerian influencer has taken home the top prize at the 2026 'Hansik' contest in Abuja. Mr Victor Mac-adonai, who won the competition, received a 300-litre and 40-litre LG fridge for his efforts. The contest, which is an annual event organised by the Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria (KCCN), aims to promote Korean cuisine and culture among Nigerians.

This year's contest focused on the authenticity of Korean dishes and taste, with contestants showcasing their skills in preparing traditional Korean meals. The competition featured a range of Korean dishes, including Jang-based Korean Sauces, which were prepared by the eight finalists. Mac-adonai's winning dish was Maekjeok, a traditional Korean recipe made with Doenjang, a type of soybean paste.

The contest also featured a range of activities, including a Hansik exhibition, photobooth, K-pop, chopsticks challenge, raffle draw, and games. The event was a celebration of Korean culture, with many Nigerians in attendance showing their love for the cuisine.

The winner of the contest has expressed his gratitude to the KCCN for hosting the event and has announced plans to start creating a Nigerian brand of Ramyeon, a popular Korean instant noodle dish.
