In response, Amupitan maintained that INEC acted within its constitutional mandate and judicial guidance. A statement issued by INEC's Chief Press Secretary, Adedayo Oketola, affirmed the commission's position and described the resignation demand as unfounded. The electoral body emphasized that its actions were in line with the February 22, 2024, Court of Appeal judgment in Abuja, which clarified the rightful leadership of the ADC. INEC stated it would continue to discharge its duties without interference or intimidation.
