President Bola Tinubu visited Plateau State on Thursday to meet victims of the March 29 attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, where gunmen killed at least 27 people and injured others. During the visit, he met with affected families, including a mother whose viral video showed her holding the body of her son, Ayuba. Tinubu acknowledged the woman's grief and assured her the government would support the victims. "I take responsibility. I know the pain. I saw in the video how you held on to Ayuba and the pain and agony in your heart," he said. He added that while the government would try to assist, only God could provide true comfort. "No amount of money can pay all of you back. Yes, as a government, we will try our best to comfort you."

Tinubu emphasized justice and a return to the peaceful society many Nigerians once knew. "The best solution is for justice to be done, the world that people like us grew up to know," he stated. Earlier reports noted that the attack led to a curfew in parts of Jos as security agencies pursued those responsible.

Tinubu's promise to the grieving mother rings hollow when Nigeria's security failures remain unaddressed. His admission of responsibility carries no weight if no concrete action follows, leaving families like Ayuba's to grapple with loss while waiting for justice that never arrives.
