**Tragedy Strikes Lekki-Epe Expressway: Four Killed, Four Injured in Devastating Truck-Bus Collision**
A heartbreaking scene unfolded on the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos over the weekend as a commercial bus was involved in a fatal collision with a truck. The tragic incident occurred in the Ajah area, claiming the lives of four male passengers and leaving four others severely injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident involved a fully-loaded Suzuki commercial mini bus, popularly known as "Korope," and a truck with registration number KNN 313 YL. The driver of the truck reportedly lost control of the vehicle while in motion, causing it to veer across the carriageway and crash into the oncoming bus.
Emergency responders from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other agencies arrived at the scene promptly to rescue the trapped victims. Unfortunately, four male passengers lost their lives in the crash, while four others sustained severe fractures and were rushed to Hamon Royal Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) provided an ambulance to evacuate the bodies of the deceased to a morgue. Security operatives from the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Elemoro Police Division maintained order at the scene, ensuring the safety of rescue personnel and other road users during the operation.
This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by commuters on Nigeria's roads, particularly on busy routes like the Lekki-Epe Expressway. It highlights the need for increased vigilance and adherence to traffic rules by drivers to prevent such tragedies from occurring.
