Nasir el-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna state, has made a swift return to the state high court in Kaduna, following his mother's burial. His court appearance comes after he was released from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on compassionate grounds.

El-Rufai's court visit is a follow-up to his bail application, which is set to be heard at the federal high court in Kaduna. The bail application has been pending since March 24, when the court adjourned the hearing after el-Rufai was arraigned on charges of fraud and money laundering.

The court had previously adjourned the case to March 31, and it remains to be seen how the proceedings will unfold. El-Rufai's mother, Hajiya Umma, passed away in Egypt on Friday while receiving medical treatment, and was buried on Sunday.
