The Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA) has called on Dangote Group to establish a cement factory in the South-east region. The appeal was made by ECCIMA President Engr. Nnanyelugo Onyemelukwe during the 37th Enugu International Trade Fair.
Onyemelukwe noted that the South-east region has been a major customer of Dangote Group, and acknowledged the company's significant contributions to the region's economic growth and Nigeria's economy as a whole. He urged the company to establish a cement factory in the South-east, citing the region's high consumption of the company's products.
The ECCIMA President commended Dangote Group for its entrepreneurial spirit and its role in creating thousands of jobs across the continent, with the majority being Nigerians. He also praised the company's efforts in establishing the Dangote Refinery, which he said has improved the availability of petroleum products in the country.
However, Onyemelukwe expressed concern over the recent price of refined petroleum products in Nigeria, urging the refinery to address this issue and give Nigerians hope of survival.
The call by ECCIMA for Dangote to establish a cement factory in the South-east is a timely reminder of the company's responsibility to the region that has been a major customer. It is also a testament to the region's economic significance. However, the recent price of refined petroleum products in Nigeria is a pressing issue that requires immediate attention from the Dangote Refinery and the federal government. Nigerians are still grappling with the high cost of living, and any efforts to address this issue would be a welcome relief. The success of the Dangote Refinery will be judged on its ability to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Nigerians, particularly in terms of reducing the cost of living.
