Initially, it was reported that three army officers, including a captain, and about seven vigilante members were killed in the attack. However, in a statement released by the Kanam Development Association (KADA) on Saturday, it was confirmed that the number of casualties was much higher. KADA's statement revealed that about 12 security personnel lost their lives instantly, while eight vigilante members who joined forces to defend their communities also paid the ultimate price. The bandits later stormed the Kyaram Community, looting properties worth millions of naira and rustling a large number of cattle from residents.
