Cornelius Crane “Chevy” Chase (born October 8, 1943) is an American comedian, actor, writer, and producer. He became one of the most influential comedy stars of the late 20th century. Chase was the breakout star of the first season of Saturday Night Live (1975–1976), where his “Weekend Update” segment became a highlight of the show. He won two Primetime Emmy Awards from four nominations as both a performer and writer. After leaving SNL early in its second season, Chase starred in some of the biggest comedy films of the 1980s, including his Golden Globe-nominated role in Foul Play (1978).
