Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, has resumed his trial at the Federal High Court on allegations of financial impropriety.
He appeared in court on Tuesday, accompanied by tight security, with officials closely monitoring the premises.
El-Rufai had been granted a temporary release by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to attend the funeral of his late mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, in Cairo, Egypt.
The ICPC has not disclosed the terms of his bail, leaving it unclear whether El-Rufai will remain free or return to ICPC custody pending further court decisions.
