Borno mosque debunks social media bomb scare
**Borno Mosque Clears the Air on Bomb Scare Rumor**
Recently, a disturbing rumor spread like wildfire on social media claiming that a bomb had been planted at the Malam Bako Mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State. However, the mosque's management has swiftly debunked this false information, assuring residents and worshippers that the premises remain calm and safe.
In a statement, the management of Malam Bako Mosque, located in Layin Hadiza, categorically dismissed the reports as "completely false and unfounded." They urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary fear and panic in the community.
The Borno State Police Command also corroborated this stance, describing the report as "unfounded." The command's spokesperson, Nahum Daso, urged residents to remain vigilant and desist from sharing fake information that could exacerbate security concerns in the state.
This bomb scare rumor comes at a time when security concerns are high in Borno State following recent attacks on military locations, worship centers, and civilian communities. In a similar incident on Christmas Day 2025, a bomb explosion at Al-Adum Juma'at Mosque in Maiduguri left five people dead and 35 others injured.
While the Malam Bako Mosque's management has successfully cleared the air on this false rumor, it serves as a reminder of the importance of verifying information before sharing it on social media. By doing so, we can prevent the spread of misinformation and unnecessary fear and panic in our communities.
The people of Borno State, particularly those in Maiduguri, can rest assured that the Malam Bako Mosque is a safe and secure place of worship. However, as we go about our daily lives, it is still essential to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
