Alhaji Shu'aibu Abdullahi Dankama, a retired Parliamentary Secretary in the Bauchi State Civil Service, has been elected Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Bauchi State. The election took place during the party's state congress held from April 9 to 11, 2026, in Bauchi, where Dankama and 30 other officials emerged through a consensus arrangement. The exercise was supervised by Maj. Gen. S.A. Audu (Rtd.) and Hajiya Hauwa Yusuf, Deputy National Secretary of the ADC, with officials from the national headquarters present to ensure compliance with party guidelines. Dankama, who previously served as Permanent Secretary at the Government House, pledged to rebuild the party's structures from the polling unit to the state level. He emphasized fairness, internal democracy, and inclusiveness, with specific focus on youth engagement, women's empowerment, and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Dankama succeeds Hassan Haruna and reaffirmed loyalty to ADC's national leadership under Senator David Mark. Speaking after his emergence, he described internal disagreements as signs of party vitality, not weakness, and called for unity toward electoral success. Senator Suleiman Nazif Gamawa, a key ADC stakeholder and former PDP national leader, lauded the congress as evidence of the party's resilience. He expressed confidence in the ADC's 2027 electoral prospects and called for broader opposition alliances to challenge the ruling APC.
