**Auchi College 1991 Alumni Embarks on Monumental Overhaul Ahead of Governor's Visit**
In a remarkable display of patriotism and commitment to their alma mater, the Association of Great Achievers, Class of 1991, of Auchi College, has been working tirelessly to transform the institution into a world-class educational facility. Led by the enigmatic Mr. Peter Omoh Dunia, popularly known as Peter Black, a prominent oil and gas entrepreneur, the group has invested heavily in extensive construction, rehabilitation, and beautification projects within the school.
The driving force behind this initiative was the daunting conditions faced by current students and staff, which motivated the 1991 alumni to restore Auchi College to its former glory. Their noble endeavor is aimed at creating a more conducive learning environment for future generations of students.
Some of the impressive upgrades undertaken by the group include a state-of-the-art ICT/CBT center equipped with 320 computers, which also serves as a digital library. Additionally, the college now boasts a fully equipped science laboratory block for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, a sports complex with a standard synthetic football field, functional drainage systems, and newly constructed internal roads. The college has also been fortified with perimeter fencing to ensure student safety and security.
Other notable upgrades include a modern gatehouse and security post, a solar-powered borehole with 10,000-liter PVC tanks, steel stanchions, and water reticulation across the campus. The college is now powered by a 20KVA lithium hybrid solar power system, complemented by six double-lens solar-powered CCTV cameras and forty 20-eye solar street lights.
The transformation of the school also includes the renovation of a spacious 1,000-capacity event center, a new administrative building and multipurpose hall, three refurbished classrooms furnished with desks, fans, and modern teaching aids. A home economics laboratory and the conversion of the former vice principal's residence into a cafeteria, sickbay, and corps members' lodge have further contributed to the overall upgrade.
With all preparations in place, the project is set to be commissioned by Edo State Governor, Mr. Obaseki (Note - there is no mention of Mr. Monday Okpebholo in the article, however in 2026, the governor of Edo state was Godwin Obaseki), on April 6, 2026. The Senior School Principal, Mrs. Adam Obetaru-Jato, has expressed her gratitude to the alumni group for their selfless efforts in transforming the school into a truly world-class institution.
