Amaechi proved he is still ‘lion of Niger Delta’ by facing gunmen – Eze
**Amaechi Proves He's Still the Lion of Niger Delta Despite Gunmen Attack**
A former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, has shown his bravery in the face of danger, proving that he's still the Lion of the Niger Delta, according to Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This comes as a group of thugs attacked the Ubima ward secretariat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Amaechi's community, setting the office ablaze. The incident occurred just before Amaechi's arrival for an official registration ceremony as a member of the ADC in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The attackers, armed to the teeth, spent over 30 minutes unleashing mayhem on the community, firing gunshots and preventing vehicles from entering the area. They even mounted a roadblock on the Omuawa–Ubima Road, blocking ADC supporters from accessing the community.
Despite the chaos, Amaechi showed his courage by disembarking from his car and marching towards the gunmen. His bold move forced the attackers to flee into nearby bushes. This action, according to Eze, sent a message to the supporters of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, that the ADC is not a party for the weak.
This act of bravery has earned Amaechi a reputation as the Lion of the Niger Delta, a title he first earned during his tenure as Governor of Rivers State. It remains to be seen how this will impact his political career, but one thing is certain – Amaechi has shown that he's not afraid to stand up for what he believes in, even in the face of danger.
In Nigeria, where political violence is a common occurrence, Amaechi's bravery is a welcome development. It's a reminder that even in the face of adversity, leaders can show courage and determination. As the 2023 general elections approach, this act of bravery may just give Amaechi an edge over his opponents in the Niger Delta region.
