**APC's VP Fires Back at Opposition, Accuses Them of Living on Lies**
As Ramadan and Lent celebrations are underway, Vice President Kashim Shettima has fired a strong salvo at Nigeria's opposition parties, accusing them of relying heavily on deception and deceit.
Speaking at an interfaith gathering at the State House, Shettima took aim at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), specifically its push for electronic transmission of votes. He alleged that when the party opened its membership portal, it was flooded with fake names and fictitious identities, pointing to the hypocrisy of some opposition parties.
It's no secret that misinformation has become a driving force in Nigerian politics. Shettima noted that this phenomenon is not new, as the great statesman Winston Churchill once said, "truth is so precious that it must be surrounded by a bodyguard of lies." Unfortunately, this seems to be the case for many opposition parties in Nigeria, who Shettima accused of living on a diet of lies.
The Vice President also took the opportunity to boost the morale of APC faithful, asserting that the ruling party is in a stronger position than it was two years ago. He attributed this to the party's growing popularity, citing the recent wave of defections from other parties. However, he clarified that these defections were voluntary, with governors joining the APC of their own free will.
As the election season approaches, Shettima urged APC loyalists to remain united and focused on promoting the party's achievements. He emphasized that selling the ruling party's successes is crucial to securing victory in the next election.
With the APC confident of its position, the opposition parties will need to do more than rely on lies and deceit to challenge the ruling party's authority. As the election season heats up, one thing is clear: the battle for Nigeria's future is far from over.
