6 dead, Nigerians injured as Iran hits UAE again
**Iran Attacks UAE, Kills 6, Injures Nigerians and Others**
In a recent escalation of tensions in the Middle East, Iran launched a wave of missile and drone attacks on the United Arab Emirates (UAE), leaving at least six people dead and over 140 others injured, including Nigerians. The attacks targeted US-linked assets in the UAE.
According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, the country's air defence systems intercepted several ballistic missiles and drones fired from Iran. The ministry confirmed that six people lost their lives in the attack, while 141 others were injured, including foreign nationals from various countries.
Among the injured are Nigerians who were living and working in the UAE. While the exact locations of the casualties are not disclosed, authorities confirmed that the injured include residents from several countries, including Nigeria, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
The attack is believed to be in retaliation for recent military operations carried out by the United States and Israel against Iranian targets. Iran has been carrying out missile and drone attacks across parts of the Gulf despite protests from neighbouring countries.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Defence said its air defence systems have intercepted a total of 294 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,600 drones launched from Iran since the onset of the conflict.
The list of countries affected by the attack includes Nigeria, which has a significant number of citizens living and working in the UAE. Nigerians have been advised to exercise caution and stay informed about the situation.
The attack highlights the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and the risks faced by citizens of countries with interests in the region. As the situation continues to unfold, Nigerians are advised to stay vigilant and follow updates from authorities for guidance.
