2027: Tunji-Ojo, group targets 95% women support for Tinubu in Ondo

2027: Tunji-Ojo, group targets 95% women support for Tinubu in Ondo
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is mobilising women across Ondo State’s 18 local government areas to support the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. This was disclosed on Friday in Akure by a former Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperative Services in the state, Yetunde Adeyanju, during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, a political organisation aligned with the minister. Adeyanju said the women’s wing of the group had been given a target to mobilise at least 95 per cent of women in the state in support of the President’s second-term ambition. “The congresses are behind us, and we are now focused on mobilising women across the state for Asiwaju’s re-election in 2027. “The Minister of Interior has given the women’s wing a clear target—to ensure that at least 95 per cent of women in Ondo State support the President. That is why mobilisation efforts are being intensified to ensure no woman is left out,” she said. She added that women were well represented at the national level and commended the President’s efforts in promoting women’s inclusion. In his remarks, the Director-General of the group, Olumuyiwa Asagunla, said the organisation had regained momentum after recent political challenges and was repositioning for aggressive grassroots mobilisation. According to him, the meeting brought together key stakeholders, including members of the leaders’ council, state executives, women’s wing, and coordinators at local government and ward levels, to strengthen internal cohesion and strategy. He noted that the group had established structures across the 203 wards in the state and was extending its reach to polling units to consolidate support for Tinubu. “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the preferred choice, and by God’s grace, we will see him lead Nigeria beyond 2027. In the last election, we secured about 68.9 per cent of the vote in Ondo State. This time, we are targeting 95 per cent,” Asagunla said. Also speaking, Chairman of the group’s Leaders Council and former senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District (2015–2019), Yele Omogunwa, said the meeting was convened to reassess strategies and rebuild unity following the party congresses. While expressing satisfaction with the resolution of issues arising from the state congress, Omogunwa criticised the conduct of the exercise at the local government level, describing it as poorly handled. He, however, urged members to remain loyal and committed, warning against divided allegiances and calling for greater transparency and unity within the group.
