Here’s everything we know about the KPop Demon Hunters sequel that is actually, 100 percent, for real happening. The animated film has been on an incredible run since it debuted in June of 2025. There’s a huge fandom of all ages. “Golden” made it to number one on the Billboard Global 200. The cast performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The film has already won at the Critics Choice Awards, Grammys, and Golden Globes. It’s nominated for two Academy Awards and (*fingers crossed*) most likely won’t go home empty. It’s getting a Criterion Collection DVD and blu-ray release. KPop Demon Hunters is easily the most popular Netflix movie, like, ever. You’d be foolish not to have a sequel in the works. Are we really getting a KPop Demon Hunters sequel? Yes, really! According to Netflix’s Tudum, KPop Demon Hunters Is Officially Entering Its Sequel Era. At least two key members of the creative team are back: co-directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. No word yet on who will write the new songs. “I feel immense pride as a Korean filmmaker that the audience wants more from this Korean story and our Korean characters,” Kang told Tudum. “There’s so much more to this world we have built, and I’m excited to show you. This is only the beginning.” What will the KPop Demon Hunters sequel be about? Do we think there will be new demons? New love interests? More songs, obviously. Appelhans told Tudum that “these characters are like family to us, their world has become our second home. We’re excited to write their next chapter, challenge them, and watch them evolve — and continue pushing the boundaries of how music, animation, and story can come together.” Who is in the KPop Demon Hunters sequel’s cast? We can assume that Arden Cho, Ejae, May Hong, Audrey Nuna, Ji-young Yoo, and Rei Ami will be back as the speaking and singing voices of HUNTR/X’s core girl group trio, respectively. I also couldn’t imagine the film without Ken Jeong as the band’s manager Bobby. As for the Saja Boys, we may have to wait and see! Y’all remember how the movie ended, right? The same goes for Lee Byung-hun as Gwi-Wa, the demon king. Hopefully they’ll be joined by new characters as well. We will have to wait and see. When will the KPop Demon Hunters sequel be released? This is the kicker. Animated movies do take a really long time to make. Unless Netflix planned for a sequel months ago and this has been under wraps (which is entirely possible, but I obviously can’t prove it) it is probably going to be a few years. When was the last time an animated musical was this popular. Frozen, right? There were five years between that movie and Frozen 2. There were also five years between Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its first sequel. Let’s hope they figure out how to speed it up!
