Troops under Operation Hadin Kai successfully defended the 27 Brigade Headquarters in Buni Gari, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, against a coordinated attack by suspected ISWAP terrorists. The assault, launched from multiple directions including the western flank and southern axis through Ganinga Junction, was aimed at overrunning the military facility. Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, spokesman for Operation Hadin Kai, said troops responded with "devastating firepower, tactical brilliance and resolute determination."
The attackers were repelled in confusion, forced to retreat while carrying away some of their dead and injured. The military maintained full control of the base throughout the engagement and prevented any breach of the facility. On-ground exploitation recovered 10 terrorist bodies around the camp, while intelligence reports confirmed more than 20 additional corpses sighted along withdrawal routes near Gashua, Azare and Kamuya.
Air support from Operation Hadin Kai conducted surveillance and precision airstrikes that eliminated at least 20 fleeing insurgents. Recovered weapons include eight AK-47 rifles, two General Purpose Machine Guns, two RPG tubes, RPG bombs, ammunition boxes, loaded magazines, bandoliers and three Improvised Explosive Device canisters.
Two soldiers were confirmed dead in the encounter, with others injured and now receiving medical care. Follow-up operations are ongoing to track down fleeing insurgents and prevent regrouping in the area. Operation Hadin Kai described the fallen troops as gallant personnel who paid the supreme price in defence of Nigeria, affirming that security forces remain battle-ready against terrorist threats in the North East.
