Wasteful reliefs? •We welcome House of Reps inquiry into waivers, etc. from 2015-2025 Waivers, concessions, tax exemptions are some of the fiscal tools used by governments to stimulate investment and growth. The problem, if any, is in their misapplication or mismanagement which may lead to revenue loss to the government. Just like loans, they are not inherently bad if judiciously applied. It is against this background that we welcome the investigation of the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on the Review of Tax and Export Incentives, Waivers and Exemptions, of possible revenue leakages that might have arisen in the course of implementing these incentives between 2015 and 2025.
