Ward Excos pray court to stop Sen. Kingibe from parading self as ADC member
**Court Battle Erupts Over ADC Senator's Suspension**
In a dramatic turn of events, two executive members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Wuse Ward, Abuja have taken Senator Ireti Kingibe to court, seeking to stop her from claiming membership of the party.
This move comes after the ADC Ward Executive suspended Senator Kingibe on Thursday for reasons that are yet to be disclosed. However, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party swiftly dismissed the suspension, claiming it was unaware of the action taken by the ward executives.
The two ADC members, led by Okezuo Kanayo, the ward chairman, and Isaiah Sameul, the ward secretary, are seeking the intervention of a Federal High Court to uphold Senator Kingibe's suspension. They argue that the ward executives have the power to discipline and suspend any member of the party within their jurisdiction, as provided for in the ADC constitution.
In a court document filed on March 13, the ADC members prayed the court to declare that the suspension of Senator Kingibe is valid and subsisting. They also want the court to stop Senator Kingibe from claiming to be a member of the party while the suspension is in effect. Furthermore, they asked the court to prevent the NWC from recognizing Senator Kingibe as a member of the party during the subsistence of her suspension.
This development adds a new layer of controversy to the already tense situation in the ADC. With the party's presidential election around the corner, the suspension of a senator and a high-profile member of the party could have far-reaching implications for the party's chances in the election.
As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen how the court will rule on this matter. Will the court uphold the suspension, or will Senator Kingibe be allowed to continue as a member of the party? Only time will tell.
