The former Arsenal, Juventus and Nice midfielder, who last played for Mexican club Pumas UNAM before leaving in 2023, made the announcement via social media on Tuesday. He finishes with 21 goals in 86 appearances for Wales, representing the nation at Euro 2016, Euro 2020, and the 2022 World Cup — Wales' first World Cup appearance in 64 years.
Ramsey was instrumental in Wales' historic run to the semi-finals of Euro 2016, a campaign that earned him a spot in UEFA's Team of the Tournament. He began his career at Cardiff City before joining Arsenal in 2008, where he spent 11 seasons and won three FA Cups. He scored the winning goal in both the 2014 and 2015 finals. Stints with Juventus, Nice, and a loan spell at Rangers followed, where he helped the Glasgow club reach the 2022 Europa League final. He briefly returned to Cardiff City, even serving as interim head coach.
In a statement, Ramsey said: "This has not been an easy decision to make… It has been my privilege to wear the Welsh shirt and experience so many incredible moments.
